Radon Mitigation - Minburn, IA

Radon Mitigation in Minburn, Iowa

Julie was very nice and just moved into the house with her family a month ago. Levels of 4.0 so want to address radon for health concerns, but more concerned with indoor air quality. Family has allergies, asthma, and one has a weakened immune system. Upon inspection it was a modular house placed on poured foundation basement and wood floor joists. The agreed installation type was a sub slab extraction point along back wall in the middle, exit home through rim joist near AC unit and route up and around soffit. The team did educate the customer that the humidity was high and there was a dehumidifier in basement, so we discussed Sanidry Sedona, and she plans to do this in the future. They will be doing an addition later this spring and knocking outside wall and extending house and basement about 20' and will later finish basement. It was also very cold in the basement and there wasn't any insulation. She gave her dates when the techs would come back to have another round of inspection regarding the proper ventilation of her home.

Radon Mitigation Advocate - Ogden, IA

This client was diagnosed with lung cancer and is very vulnerable to harmful environmental pollutants since a portion of his lung was removed last month. With radon being a cause of lung cancer, he made sure his two-chamber home was protected for his health. He is a possible radon advocate as he shared with us his journey on how his situation has come to. Very beautiful family!

This is an interior system job and design changed a few times while the team was there. There is a closet to the bottom of the stairs that we will look to run an interior line up from. There is a closet in the guest bedroom on the upper floor to run up through and hide in. The radon fan will go through attic into back of home if possible, depending on crawl room in the attic. Not the largest attic space to get into and the access is in one of the bedrooms. Tricky project but the client is really nice!

Jim's basement workshop felt like a man cave – except for the worry about radon. A recent radon test confirmed his fears: dangerous levels of 25 were seeping in.  He envisioned his grandkids playing down there one day, and the thought chilled him more than the radon itself.  The technician explained how a system installed in the utility room would trap radon at its source and vent it safely outside.  He pictured this space as a safe, healthy space, the worry replaced by the comforting hum of the new system – a quiet protection against a silent threat.

Why do you need a radon mitigation system at home?

This home is an old ranch farm house with radon levels of 12 in basement and 6 upstairs above the crawlspace. It also has a two-chamber basement with a large dirt crawlspace, and an old garage that is being renovated as an extended living room area. The client was a referral from a friend who had an installation with us and they were really happy so they spread the word! The client also added a Breathe EZ for extra protection along with a crawlspace encapsulation.
